Welcome.

Real talk: we didn’t want to use the word “Agency,” but ‘Studio’ was taken so here we are.

We have a passion for helping small businesses and entrepreneurs develop their brands with purposeful design and strategic integration. We aren’t slapping up Canva designs and calling it a day. Nor are we throwing a Squarespace template on with no SEO or strategic website and technical knowledge behind it. Sadly, you cannot have one without the other, many people overlook this crucial combination. However, after a year or two, or even five, you may notice a decline in the foundational work you initially put in, making it difficult to grow your brand.

That's why we created Serene. We can assist you through every step of the process. Our approach is strategic, informed, and not simply about delivering attractive designs. Our solutions are not only visually appealing but technologically functional, backed by strong SEO and marketing expertise.

WHY SERENE

We wanted something calm, something that stood out, that made you feel, made you think. That when you landed on Serene, you paused.

We’re West and East Coast-based; mountains, prairies and the water grounds us. We wanted our brand to reflect that. So the name ‘Serene’ just felt right, it truly reflects our brand, who we are, and the services we not only provide but deliver.

OK, OK, OK, are you asking yourself “Why all the green?”

I get it; it’s a bold choice. Maybe we should have gone with grey, white and cream because we wouldn’t want to scare potential clients away with a bold monotone design. But, green is cool, it’s calm, it reflects nature and if you haven’t picked up on it, our packages are all water/nature-based—they are calm and realistic—soothing. And grey is boring, frankly. Our portfolio will show you that we can range from mild to major, and our brand reflects who we are, not who you are.

We are authentic, passionate creatives who are experts in the design, branding, and marketing space. We’ve seen a significant gap in the small business world, and it’s important for us to provide services to clients who a) don’t want 'Jim-Bob Agency-Next-Door’ and b) frankly, can’t afford that.

So that’s the story behind Serene, and we are pretty f*cking proud of ‘er.

BROOKE KING

FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, PHOTOGRAPHER

With 20 years of experience in the digital content, marketing, and design industry, I specialize in crafting and executing data-driven marketing strategies across various digital channels. With my expertise in website design and creation, SEO, PPC, social media, content strategy and execution, marketing and content development, I focus on enhancing brand visibility and driving significant ROI.

My background encompasses digital marketing, e-commerce, environmental and post-secondary. I’ve worked with major brands across Canada and North America—HGTV Canada, Food Network, formerly Shaw Media, now Rogers—creating websites, crafting digital content, producing mixed media, and executing strategic marketing campaigns. I possess strong leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and leveraging emerging technologies, which sets me apart in the industry. I believe that effective communication and teamwork are key to success.

In addition to running Serene, I manage an established photography business and a flower shop focusing on sustainable live-to-dry florals. I’m also a mom, and I believe that life should be balanced, that you should pour your energy into the things that matter most to you and, all-around be a good human. My children, my incredibly supportive hubby and the mountains ground me. Serene was founded because of a gap I saw with small business owners and entrepreneurs who truly need help in the digital space but don’t have the time or resources to run the day-to-day of their business and grow it at the same time. I want to bring your brand and your vision to life.

With almost 10 years in the design industry, I strive to create designs that are not only visually appealing but also communicate each client’s message effectively. Having worked in various unique sectors, such as fashion, environmental, apparel, and food, I bring a wide array of visual knowledge and problem-solving for all our clients. At Serene, I blend aesthetics with strategy to create engaging and impactful visuals.
